Sixth J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting
The Sixth J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting will take place in Warsaw from Wednesday 3 July to Sunday 7 July 2013.
The J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting was originally held annually in Oxford (2005–2009). It became a biennial event in 2010, when BNUK sessions were first presented at the Biennial International Conference for Baroque Music. The fifth Dialogue Meeting was held in Edinburgh in 2011, and the sixth will be held in Warsaw in 2013. Over the years the free spirit of the Dialogue Meeting, with friendly formality of professional papers and public dialogue complemented by informal conversations over mealtimes, has resulted in many enriching exchanges of ideas. 2013 will see the introduction of the Dialogue Session Group scheme, from which we hope to see the formation of some longer-term international research projects.
The Warsaw J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting will include six sessions formed by Dialogue Session Groups (DSG) and six individual papers in two ‘Burning Issues’ sessions. The Young Scholars’ Forum gives research students the invaluable opportunity to present a short (10–15 minutes) summary of their work, followed by public discussion–a kind an open tutorial with leading Bach experts. As this Dialogue meeting will take place in a central European setting it seemed a prime opportunity to allow the focus to be on Bach connections in this geographical area, hence the general title Bach Looking East. Plenary sessions will be held in the Senate Hall of the University of Warsaw. Many of the papers will be submitted for publication in the peer-reviewed on-line journal Understanding Bach.
Registration form for The Sixth J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting should be completed and sent by email to the Meeting Administrator Jolanta Stelmaszczyk by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax: +48 22 55 24 011.
